Project Proposals

Looking for a venue to experiment? To build? The Campus Center for Appropriate Technology was created to offer students and community members a hub for experimenting with, practicing and demonstrating Appropriate Technology (see “What is Appropriate Technology” on Home page). 

Anyone can submit a Project Proposal to make use of CCAT’s space. 


You will also need to submit a project timeline and budget. Below are examples:



Finally, if your project is approved, you will need to sign a Working Agreement with CCAT.

CCAT Harvest Festival is next Friday October 19th from 2-8pm. This family friendly event is free and open to the public. Come listen to live local bands and participate in crafts and actives while eating delicious food grown in our community. Don't forget to wear your Halloween Costume and please remember to be respectful with your costume choice. 
CCAT is located at the southeastern corner of the Humboldt State campus in the town of Arcata, California.  Our parking lot is at the corner of 14th & A and our house is just a short walk up the hill.

Intro to Permaculture/Homestead

Join us on Sunday September 30th @2pm at The Campus Center for Appropriate Technology (CCATon the HSU campus for this lecture and tour. Permaculture uses a set of principles and practices to create productive and regenerative human settlements. These settlements not only provide an abundance of food and resources for the humans that live on the landscape, but also offer an abundance of habitat for all types of plants, animals and community members. Intro to Permaculture/Climate Change

Lead report writer Aldaron Laird of Trinity Associates will drill into the details, followed with a permaculture response by Steven Saint Thomas of Adventures in Permaculture. Learn about what’s ahead and what you can do about it, 6 p.m. Sept. 25 at the Center for Appropriate Technology (CCAT) on the HSU campus (up the hill from the corner of 14th and A streets). Looking for a venue to make something happen? We welcome university and community events to be held at CCAT for free! We offer a unique sustainability-centered landscape with the feel of a modern homestead, including an outdoor lawn, an indoor classroom and much more. 

Some examples of events are workshops, concerts, and clothing swaps.
